Rough’n Tumble foals of 1960

Adding to the previous Rough’n Tumble post, below are photos of some members of his 1960 foal crop.

A full sister to champion My Dear Girl, Me Next was unraced but became a successful broodmare, foaling Midnight Pumpkin (dam of 1985 Preakness winner Tank’s Prospect) and graded stakes placed filly Leave Me Alone (1973). She is the ancestress of stakes winner/sire Lucky North, and graded stakes winners Dixie Luck, Limit Out, and Kays and Jays.

She was the dam of stakes winner/graded stakes placed filly Fine Prospect (dam of handicapper/track record setter Fighting K and stakes winner Calistay), stakes placed filly Royal Reproach, as well as Raise a Queen (dam of graded stakes winner/sire Believe the Queen). She is the ancestress of Australian Group 1 winner Fraar.

Really Rugged would race from the ages of two to five, and retire with a record of (34) 3-6-5 and earnings of $16,000. He became the sire of numerous quarter horses, with his best known foal being AQHA Hall of Fame stallion Rugged Lark.
