Just another day in the office for Tink Trotter

“Tink Trotter donned a mystic robe full of crescents and stars, locked himself in his office with a crystal ball, and communed all morning with the Bowling Green nominations and chart books. . . . “We offered to put a goat in with him,” Bud Hyland said, “but he didn’t think the idea sounded very attractive.” (Daily Racing Form, 06/13/1967)

Tommy “Tink” Trotter would ultimately assign Buckpasser – a horse untried on turf – the Bowling Green Handicap highweight impost of 135 lbs. He would go on to finish 3rd in his first and only attempt on grass, snapping a fifteen race win streak.

The race was won by Poker, carrying 112 lbs. Assagai (127 lbs.) was 2nd.
